Past Intermediate Commander Gary H Olson
My
wife Becky and I have been married 47 years. We
live on a farm eight miles north of Moorhead near
Kragnes. We have three sons: Steve and his wife
Cindy live in Buffalo, MN and have two sons Ryan and
Eric. Steve is the Executive Director of the
Minnesota Turkey Growers Association. Dave and his
wife Pan live in Woodbury and have two daughters Bridget
and Gretchen. Dave is the Assistant Manager of a
County Market grocery store in Hudson, Wisconsin.
Clark lives in Audubon, MN where he is a Special
Education teacher and ninth grade volleyball coach.
Becky owns Becky's Sewing Center and is the same office
as Gary H. Olson Insurance in downtown Moorhead. I
have served eight years in the North Dakota Air National
Guard and 29 years in the Air Force Reserve. I am
also currently serving my second year as Area III Vice
Commander for the 9th District American Legion serving

DeLyle Ishaug
I was born and raised in the Barnesville MN area living
on a farm for 10 years, then moving to town. I graduated
from Moorhead High School in 1952. I volunteered and was
drafted into the US Army in 1954 and Discharged in 1956.
I then enlisted in the North Dakota Air National Guard
in 1957 becoming a Civil Service Technician in addition
to being a guard member. In 1977 I got a Bachelor
of Arts Degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead.
I retired in 1989 with a total of 34 years military
service.
My wife Marlene and I have 3 daughters, Lori, Diane and
Susan. |

Zach Verke
Zach is currently serving in the North Dakota Army
National Guard as a member of the 1-112th
Aviation Battalion out of Bismarck, ND. He also works
full time for the Military Funeral Honors program in
Fargo, ND as a Team Leader. Along with working Zach is
also a full time college student at NDSU where he is
majoring in Construction Management and working on
getting a minor in Business. |

Tom Figliuzzi
“Thomas Dominic ‘Tom’
Figliuzzi has been the Veterans Service Officer for Clay
County since April 24, 2006. Prior to that, he was an
Assistant Veterans Service Officer for Otter Tail County
since March 29, 1999. He was born in Chicago, IL to
Rocky and Peggy Figliuzzi and lived in the south side of
Chicago until age 9. Rocky left Chicago, moving 50 miles
north of Bemidji, MN, where Tom spent his youth wild
rice farming with his father until age 18. After
graduating from high school, Tom moved to St. Paul, MN
where he worked as manager of Ziebart Rustproofing from
1977 to 1981 and in construction from 1981 to 1982. Tom
enlisted in the United States Army on February 4, 1982
and worked in several different areas during his career
including military intelligence, carpentry/masonry,
readiness NCO, and in recruiting, retention and
marketing. He was stationed in Korea from 1983 to 1984
and then Fort Polk, LA until 1985. From 1985 to 1988,
Tom was assigned to Fort Clayton in Panama where he was
awarded the Army Achievement Medal on May 21, 1986 for
inventing and building Panama’s first illuminated
situation briefing board. Tom was awarded the
Expeditionary Medal for combat service in El Salvador in
the mid-1980s. He also served as the Lead Intelligence
Analyst for the United States Embassy in San Salvador,
El Salvador during that period.”
