From the Commander

Thank you for electing me your Commander for 2010--2011. I look forward to working with each and everyone to keep this post a successful one. The Vice Commanders are: First Vice - Wayne Schumacher, Second Vice - DeLyle Ishaug, Third Vice – Joel Ostlie, and Fourth Vice – Marvin Nicklay. Thank you for serving. The Executive Committee members are – Paul Anderson, Joe Baker, Dennis Beckerleg, Gary Schultz & Scott Moen. The House Committee members are – Scott Moen (Chairman), Paul Anderson, Bubby Christle, Joel Ostlie & Russ Boen. Thanks to everyone who is serving on a position here at Post 21. I’d like to say thank you to Joe Baker, Business Manager for the Blues baseball program. What started out as a 2 year appointment lasted for 23 years of dedication to the Blues program. Joe has decided to retire effective July 1st, he will stay on as an advisor to Corey Delorme who has accepted the position. Thank You Joe!!!!!!!! And congratulations Corey for stepping up to the plate to keep Joe’s successful program going. Thanks Dennis Beckerleg & Dale Jenson for helping the Sons of the Legion out and make Burger Night for the Cowboy Up Ride Against Cancer a successful night. We raised over $450.00 for the Roger Maris Cancer Center. Post membership needs 36 by July 25th, the State Convention, to be at 100%. If you haven’t renewed your membership now would be a great time to do so. We currently have about 70 that haven’t renewed, give Wayne Schumacher or me a call if you can help us contact these individuals about renewing their membership. Do you know someone that is eligible for membership, but is not a member, now is the time to contact them and help them become a member. Are you currently on active duty or deployed overseas? Please let me know so we can update the Post Member board. Do you have a family member that is deployed, please get me the information! Got some spare time and want to help out the post. We’re looking for individuals to serve on the Color Guard. We do parades, funerals and other events as requested from various organizations. If you’d like to come and help us out give myself a call or Paul Anderson,@ 701-866-9110. Remember to check out the post web site at www.legionpost21.com, for updates and other upcoming events that are happening throughout the year at the club as well as the District, State & National level. Please keep our veterans, service members, and their families in your thoughts and pray every day for our deployed soldiers to return home safely.

BAKER RETIRES
Long time baseball Chairman Leo “Joe” Baker has hung up his glove and retired to the Grand Stand. (If you can believe that) Joe will stay semi-active and assist Cory Delorme with the program. Joe was quoted as saying that he had suffered a slight heart attack recently. Many of his former players and coaches question if he had one. (Heart that is) Actual won-loss figures are not available to this writer but if you ask Joe he will readily quote them for you. Great Job Joe!

Olson Elected At the recent ninth District Convention,
